This bundle has one or more in-person courses. You must go to the specified location during business hours to take them.

Ready to get your Guard Card? This bundle gives you the eight (8) hours of training BSIS requires before you can submit your application.

Part one is the online Powers to Arrest course. You’ll learn...

• The laws for trespass, property rights, and private person arrests so you can avoid legal trouble as you perform your duties
• Techniques to de-escalate conflicts so they don’t spiral out of control
• How to communicate so you feel confident and make people trust in your abilities
• When and how to work with law enforcement to arrive at the best outcome in a crisis

Part two is the in-person Appropriate Use of Force course. You’ll learn...

• How to de-escalate dangerous scenarios through self-control and respectful communication
• How to use the Critical Decision Model, a simple technique to make smart decisions when the stakes are high
• The legal requirements for the use of “objectively reasonable force” so you stay on the right side of the law when force becomes necessary

After you finish both courses, you’ll have the training you need to apply for your Guard Card and start your career as a professional security officer.

Note: You must complete the online course before you come in to our facility for the in-person course. You should plan to spend about 3 hours at our facility.
