Common Questions
What does it cost to sign up and train guards?
It’s completely free to sign up. You will need to provide a valid license for your state that allows you to train security personnel, which will be verified.
After that, you only pay when you train or make a sale:
- For guard employer accounts: You pay for the courses you assign to your linked guards. The amount varies from course to course, whether you use our Private Label content or create your own.
- For training facility accounts: You pay a flat rate of 30% per sale through your Merchant Profile plus Stripe’s payment processing fee, which is currently 2.9% + $0.30 for credit cards. Stripe charges different rates based on the payment type (BNPL, wallets, etc.). Check with them for the most up-to-date rates.
Are there monthly fees?
There are no monthly fees. You only pay when you train or make a sale. See the previous question for a breakdown of pricing.
Are there course limits?
There are no course limits. You can create as many courses as you want, either with our Private Label content or with your custom content. The one limitation with Private Label courses is that you can only have each course listed once, i.e. you can’t have multiple versions of the same Private Label course.
Are there guard limits?
There are no guard limits.
Guard employer accounts can link as many guards as they want. The only limitation for linking is on the guard side. Guards can’t have more than two pending link requests open at a time.
Training facility accounts can sell as many courses as they want to as many guards as they want.
What’s the difference between a guard employer account and training facility account?
Both account types have the same access to our easy-to-use course creation system and Private Label content to create online, walk-in, and classroom courses.
Only guard employer accounts can link guards, which includes access to track their course progress, certificates of completion, and any license or permit information they share.
Only training facility accounts get a Merchant Profile to sell courses to the public. A Stripe account is required before a Merchant Profile can be created. You can set up a new account or link an existing one.
As a guard employer, can I really train my own guards?
Most states allow licensed guard employers to train their own guards. For instance, in California a Private Patrol Operator (PPO) or Proprietary Security Employer (PSE) may provide BSIS-required training in-house as long as it is given only to their direct employees. This includes new hires and individuals they intend to hire as part of the onboarding process. (16 CCR § 643)
Be sure to check with your State’s licensing agency before you start training.
Can I use your course content to get started? Is it any good?
Yes. You can use our Private Label course content and be ready to train in just a few minutes. Our quickstart video tutorials walk you through the process with clear, step-by-step instructions. And all of our Private Label content is designed to meet or exceed State training requirements.
Can I offer online courses?
Yes. You can offer as many online courses as you want, which will allow guards to sign up and work through the material at their own pace.
What if a course has to be in-person? Can I do that?
Yes. You can offer both walk-in and classroom training. Walk-in courses are on-demand and allow you to train individual guards in-person as needed. Classroom courses are scheduled and, as the name implies, allow you to deliver training to more than one guard at a time.
